STRATAGLASS POLISHED VINYLStrataglass is a scratch resistant, UV blocking, coated 40 mil. press polished vinyl. Strataglass is designed for any application in today's environment, from boat curtains to automotive windows, to tent and awning applications where perfection of clarity and lack of distortion are demanded. What makes Strataglass so obviously superior starts with the raw material, the chemical makeup of the calendared vinyl (referred to in the industry as "roll goods"). Ordinary vinyl is loaded with what is referred to as "UV inhibitors," this chemical additive makes the vinyl appear as blue in color, even hazy. Strataglass introduces only a minimal amount of UV inhibitors into the vinyl, then adds a UV blocking coating to the surface of the vinyl. The coated vinyl is then press polished for a superior finish. This results in the most exciting product to hit the marine canvas industry in years! Additionally, Strataglass will not become etched by industrial fallout including power plant exhaust, airplane exhaust, unspent fuel, or runoff from grommets either. Scratch Resistant Coating Clarity Resistance to Fallout, Runoff and Overspray You may have noticed gray streaks in your vinyl curtains in the past, consistent with the brass grommets on your Bimini top or runoff points of your top. The coating on Strataglass blocks these elements from etching into the surface of the vinyl. This is true of most trace elements, even over spray can be carefully cleaned off using lacquer thinner (see Trouble Shooting section for more information). Regular vinyls absorb runoff elements and would be destroyed using lacquer thinner to remove over spray. Longevity Because you will see clearer, longer, you will find you don't need to replace the curtains as often. The question often asked is "How long will Strataglass last?" Our only answer is that the two original boats installed with Strataglass still look great after six years in the brutal Florida sun. Size The largest pressed sheet in the world measuring 53" x 111" |
